Orthodontics

What is Orthodontics? Orthodontic treatment improves the function, position and appearance of abnormally arranged teeth or crooked teeth. Here at Springfield we work closely with Sharrow dental who offer high quality orthodontic care to our patients.

Why have your teeth straightened?

Your overall health could be suffering if you are not able to chew your food properly from crooked teeth. Having a good bite makes this easier and will also improve the overall appearance of your teeth. By straightening your teeth you may improve your dental health, your overall health and your self-esteem.

The Teeth Straightening Process

Orthodontic braces or clear customised aligning teeth appliances are usually applied to straighten the appearance of teeth.

Orthodontic braces are usually fixed to the teeth for a set duration. The brackets and wires are tightened regularly by our orthodontist and removed when treatment is complete. Fixed braces can be placed on the front side or back side of the teeth and are effective for most people.

Clear braces are fully removable and are used in less severe cases. The braces are replaced every few weeks for the duration of the treatment and have proven to be equally effective for straightening teeth.
